Thesis- The Haitian revolution is arguably the largest and most successful slave rebellion in history. It inspired many other Latin American colonies to revolt against European control and gain their freedom.

What: The Haitian Revolution was a slave revolt in the French colony of Saint-Domingue. It was the first successful revolution that abolished slavery and also ended French control over the colony.

The Haitian revolution was a revolutionary revolution, and besides the pun it is true. It was very important to molding the new world, directly influencing other places to stand up to their oppressors being enslaved. They stopped the French holding of land or plans of getting land in the new world, and it was something amazing, since it was the first Black run nation in the new world which was amazing since almost all were white run, with slaves maintaining the infrastructure.

- The Haitian revolution was the first successful slave revolt by a Latin American colony, controlled by Europe, that gained it’s independence. This created a stepping stone for the other colonies to declare their independence as well. Without the success of the Haitian revolution, the other Latin American countries wouldn’t have the courage to fight against the Europeans.
